For many people Facebook has become an important online platform to connect with friends and family. But what happens to your Facebook account in the event of your death? Facebook, like other social media sites, has a feature allowing you to designate a custodian/legacy contact that can manage your account upon your passing.
On your Facebook page, you can easily designate a custodian/legacy to manage your account. The custodian/legacy is then permitted to manage your account after your death.
To access this feature, you will need to take the following steps from your Facebook account:
- Log in to your Facebook account and go to Settings.
- Click on Personal Information and then Manage Account.
- Add a Legacy Contact and Facebook will give you the option to send this person a message notifying them of their designation.
- You can later remove this person as your custodian/legacy and designate someone else for this role.
